Moving Forward: How Germany and Canada Take Mobility to the Next Level

UTTRI Executive Director Dr. Judy Farvolden was invited by the Canadian German Chamber of Industry and Commerce to participate in presentations and discussions about opportunities, recent trends, and experiences regarding smart mobility and automation. The bi-national workshop was held September 20 in Toronto.

The German delegation was led by the State of Baden-Württemberg Minister, President Winfried Kretschmann.

Dr. Farvolden was one of five invited speakers. The group also heard from Franz Loogen, President, e-Mobil BW; Josipa Petrunic, Executive Director & CEO, Canadian Urban Transit Research & Innovation Consortium (CUTRIC); Kristina Mlakar, National Operations Manager and Project Lead, Canadian Urban Transit Research & Innovation Consortium (CUTRIC); and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Weber, President, University of Ulm.

Dr. Farvolden spoke about UTTRI’s work and also participated in a panel discussion and workshop on the socioeconomic benefits of smart mobility. The panel (photo above) also included Franz Loogen, President, e-Mobil BW, and was moderated by Michael Wolfe, Manager, Innovation & Prosperity at Waterfront Toronto.
