UTTRI associated faculty Professor Shauna Brail comments to CTV News on the increased popularity of driving or ride-hailing versus other modes of transportation—such as taking public transit, cycling, and walking—saying that it may be due to a perception that it is the safest way to get around during the pandemic.

“There’s a greater sense or perception of safety in terms of transmission of disease in a ride-hailing vehicle than on public transit,” she said. “Whether that’s true or not is a totally different matter.” – Professor Shauna Brail
