A new partnership, led by Professor Marianne Hatzopoulou, has just launched the Urban Scanner project.

Urban Scanner is a partnership between the Transportation and Air Quality (TRAQ) research group and the Toronto-based company Scentroid.

A vehicle equipped with air and noise sensors, a 360deg camera, a lidar, and a wind sensor will be mapping urban air quality in Toronto while capturing the features of the built environment responsible for air pollution. The system is supported by data analytics which will urban features and relate them to air quality.

The vehicle will be circulating throughout Toronto this summer.
