UTTRI and WTS Toronto Area Chapter co-host first Career Mixer

On the evening of November 25th, UTTRI and the WTS Toronto Area Chapter co-hosted their first Career Mixer. This was an event with something for everyone.

Career MixerRepresentatives from WTS corporate sponsors, the City of Toronto, TTC and Metrolinx were on hand to converse with over 60 students, drawn from Engineering, Engineering Science, Geography and Planning and the Institute for Management and Innovation. All will soon, or have recently, received Bachelors, Masters or Doctoral degrees and all are intent on a career as transportation professionals.

After a brief welcome from Professor Brent Sleep, University of Toronto’s Chair of Civil Engineering, Karla Avis-Birch, Director Corridor Infrastructure, Stouffville for Metrolinx and Dr. Judy Farvolden, UTTRI’s Program Director, the voices of the capacity crowd of over 100 people filled the room. Students moved from booth to booth, learning about opportunities in the field and at each organization from front-line practitioners, embedded in delivering transportation solutions in the Region and the world.
