Architect, urban designer and researcher Tanvi Maheshwari was warmly welcomed by UTTRI October 22 in a roundtable discussion with PhD students and postdoctoral fellows.  Tanvi is currently pursuing her PhD at ETH Zurich, investigating how automated vehicles and shared mobility will impact cities in order to understand urban design and planning strategies that might help maximize the benefits of automation in transportation and minimize potential dangers. In this context, the key question discussed in the roundtable was: how to conduct urban design in this shifting technological context? Discussants participated in an open discussion on methods, tools and metrics available to urban designers and planners to more closely engage with and understand the dynamics of transport flows, during the design process.
