The University of Toronto Transportation Research Institute (UTTRI) is home to eight core research centres and a network of affiliated centres. Together, they drive innovative research and collaboration in transportation, mobility, and related fields.

Data Management Group (DMG)
Developing advanced data infrastructure, management systems, and analytical methodologies to support transportation research, decision-making, and policy development.
Transit Analytics Lab (TAL)
Leveraging data analytics, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies to improve transit operations, service planning, passenger experience, and system performance.
Travel Modelling Group (TMG)
Designing and applying advanced travel modelling techniques to understand mobility patterns, evaluate transportation systems, and support strategic planning initiatives.
Smart Freight Centre
Advancing sustainable freight transportation and urban logistics solutions to improve goods movement efficiency, reduce emissions, and strengthen supply chain resilience.
Travel Demand Modelling Group (TDMG)
Investigating travel behaviour and forecasting demand to inform transportation planning, infrastructure investments, and policy decisions across diverse urban contexts.
Centre for Automated and Transformative Transportation Systems (CATTS)
Advancing research in connected, automated, electric, and transformative transportation systems through innovative technologies, simulation, and real-world applications.
Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Centre and Testbed
Researching, developing, and testing intelligent transportation technologies that enhance the safety, efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of transportation networks.
TRansportation and Air Quality Research Group (TRAQ)
Examining the interactions between transportation systems and air quality to support cleaner mobility solutions and healthier urban environments.
