He was introduced by School of the Environment Director, Professor Steve Easterbrook.

In his talk “The Paradox of Cities and the Environment” Professor Siemiatycki contrasted the damage caused by cities to the environment with the ability of cities to produce solutions to environmental problems.

He generously shared his presentation file, which has been posted by the School of the Environment. View Professor Siemiatycki’s presentation (PDF format).

The Eric Krause Memorial Lecture honours U of T alumnus Eric David Baker Krause who passed away in May 2002. Krause used his MA thesis research to create the Ecological Footprint model at the City of Toronto where he worked as an environmental planner.
