UTTRI associated faculty Professor Matti Siemiatycki, Interim Director of School of Cities, was interviewed by CBC News Ottawa in the November 25 item “Public-private partnerships boast ‘mixed record,’ expert warns.”

Siemiatycki comments at length on public-private partnerships, which are popular for large infrastructure projects such as light rail transit. He concludes that whether they are good or bad depends on many factors, including:

  • who the partners are
  • how the contract is written
  • whether appropriate information is shared
  • the enforcement and monitoring of the contract

The November 25 new items includes an audio interview (8:51) as well as a written article.
