TAL Launches New Dashboard (TALe-Bus) to Support Electric Bus Fleet Planning

UTTRI is pleased to announce the launch of the Transit Analytics Lab Electric Bus (TALe-Bus) Dashboard, a powerful, web-based decision support tool designed to help transit agencies and planners navigate the transition from diesel to electric buses.

TALe-Bus provides route-specific predictions of electric bus energy consumption, fleet size requirements, and Replacement Factors (RF), a key metric indicating the number of electric buses needed to maintain existing service levels. The tool is built on state-of-the-art machine learning models trained on real-world data from the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC).

TALe-Bus features two interactive modules:

  • Toronto eBus Explorer: Visualize the city’s bus network with route-level RFs, categorized by season and bus model. Identify which routes require a one-to-one replacement and which demand additional vehicles.

  • Custom Scenario Predictor: Enter your own route characteristics, operational variables, and bus specifications to estimate energy consumption and replacement needs for electric bus deployment.

Whether you're a transit agency planning a fleet transition, a policymaker evaluating sustainability investments, or a consultant supporting zero-emission initiatives, TALe-Bus provides valuable, data-driven insights to guide your decisions.
