1:00-1:40 Next stop, Autonomous! The use case of SmartShuttle Sion, Switzerland

Automated bus systems are a promising means of future first- and last mile public transport solutions and can even possibly become a regular part of the public transport network. PostBus, Mobility Lab, and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland (HES-SO Valais-Wallis) gained lots of valuable experience with the SmartShuttles in Sion since 2016. They are now entering the next exciting phase. This talk features three presentations:

1:40-2:20 Autonomous Driving using Multi-Policy Decision Making

In this talk, Dr. Edwin Olson, CEO and Co-founder of May Mobility. will describe an approach to building autonomous vehicles using Multi-Policy Decision Making (MPDM). MPDM is a method for high-level decision making, in which a vehicle makes decisions like “should I pass this bicycle, or should I follow it?” It enables autonomous vehicles to interact more naturally with other cars and road users like bicycles and pedestrians. With technologies like MPDM, we believe autonomous vehicles can help to transform cities and increase transportation access and equity.
