Chi-Guhn Lee’s project “Demand forecasting and real-time monitoring in retail businesses” in the news

A research project of UTTRI associated faculty Professor Chi-Guhn Lee was featured in “Scale AI, partners invest $29 million into five artificial intelligence projects,” BetaKit, July 21, 2020.

Professor Lee is a partner on the project “Demand forecasting and real-time monitoring in retail businesses,” one of five recently funded by Scale AI and partners.

Led by FIND A.I., this project will predict and manage consumer demand for retailers in the apparel, footwear, and accessories space. – BetaKit

Also involved in the project are Pacific West Commercial Corporation, Boathouse Apparel, Cook Culture Ltd., Bella Group, Plenty Apparel, and Purdy’s.

Scale AI, part of the federal government’s Innovation Supercluster Initiative, aims to “accelerate the integration of AI across all industries, scaling large and small organizations along the way.”

Chi-Guhn Lee is active in both theory and application of dynamic optimization. His toolbox includes Markov decision process, stochastic modelling and reinforcement learning. Application domains of his research has been diverse from route optimization to network design and to physical asset management.

He is Professor and Associate Chair of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at University of Toronto.
