Dr. Jason Hawkins joins University of Nebraska-Lincoln faculty

Congratulations and best wishes to Dr. Jason Hawkins on his new position as Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, College of Engineering, at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, NE.

Jason earned his PhD (2021) degree at the University of Toronto in the Department of Civil and Mineral Engineering under the supervision of UTTRI associated faculty Professor Khandker Nurul Habib.

He completed his BSc (2014) and MSc (2016) degrees at the University of Calgary in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

While at U of T, Jason served on the Executive Committee of the University of Toronto Institute of Transportation Engineers Student Chapter (UT-ITE) for two years. Jason was the 2021 Department of Civil & Mineral Engineering nominee for the Governor General’s Gold Medal.

Jason continues to contribute to the annual zero-cost, zero-carbon Bridging Transportation Researchers (BTR) Conference launched in 2019.

While completing the final stages of his studies at U of T, he held a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Texas at Austin.

Jason will join the University of Nebraska in August 2021, where he will focus on modelling transportation, land use, and climate change mitigation pathways and sustainable infrastructure systems analysis, as well as collaborating on projects with existing faculty.
