Professor Steve Farber was quoted in the article Self-driving cars will change your life more than you can ever imagine by CNN Tech in Episode 1 of the series Our Driverless Future: The Search for Autonomy.
“So far it’s basically been a runaway train of enthusiasm, and not a lot of serious policy being bantered about how we’re going to deal with some of the challenges that unfettered automation is going to bring,” Steven Farber, a professor of geography and planning at University of Toronto, told CNN Tech.
The series aims to explore the possible impacts of autonomous vehicles by consulting with technology and transportation experts.
UTTRI’s iCity Centre for Automated and Transformative Transportation Systems (iCity-CATTS) is the first at UofT mandated to study how ‘smart’ transportation technologies, such as automated vehicles and e-sharing, will affect people’s transportation choices, how businesses provide transportation as a service, and how cities should plan for those changes to achieve the best results for society.
